Abashidze: Georgia’s accession to NATO is not on the agenda

Georgian prime minister’s special representative for the settlement of relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze said that Georgia is free to choose the organization for cooperation.

Institutional cooperation between Georgia and NATO began in 1994, when Georgia became a member of the program “Partnership for Peace” (PfP - Parntnership for Peace). “And in Brussels and Moscow and Tbilisi are well aware that today and tomorrow Georgia’s accession to NATO is not on the agenda” - said Abashidze before the meeting of the government.

He noted that Georgia is free to choose the organization for cooperation. “Georgia is an independent country, so it has the full right to cooperate with any international organization, including NATO.
