Evidence of war crimes Saakashvili handed over to the International Criminal Court

Official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin expressed confidence that the former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will not be able to escape justice. He stated this in an interview with “interlocutor”.

Markin said that in 2008, Saakashvili “ordered the troops into South Ossetia and the attack on the Russian peacekeeping body.” In the West, he said, while these actions are not enough to condemn. “And now this eater ties running around the world and is afraid to return to Georgia for fear of arrest,” - said the representative of the TFR.

According to Markin, Russia against former Georgian leader to investigate criminal case under article “Genocide”, “Murder” and “The use of prohibited means and methods of warfare”, and all materials submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“International law does not allow us to declare the wanted list Saakashvili. Though he is a former head of state, but has immunity from foreign criminal jurisdiction. But, as I said before, it certainly is waiting for the court, and some - time will tell,” - he said.

Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia was from January 2004 to November 2007 and from January 2008 to November 2013. He has repeatedly spoken out strongly against Russia. In particular, Saakashvili accused Russia in separatist aspirations connivance of the authorities of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, who did not want to normalize relations with Georgia. Currently Saakashvili is outside the country. At home, he is involved in several criminal cases.
