Tbilisi burned tape wreath laid Slovak delegation, confusing the Russian

In the center of Tbilisi at the parliament building, where on the night of April 9, gathered several dozen representatives of political parties and the public on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Soviet troops disperse the rally, the incident occurred.

On one of the wreaths at the memorial to the victims of 9 April gathered discovered tape with flowers of the Russian flag. Tape ripped, trampled, but without knowing who brought this wreath, it was burnt down.

According to Georgian media, a wreath was laid with ribbon Slovak government delegation, located in Georgia for a visit.

Under the hot hand and the crowd got Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the former ruling party “United National Movement” Nika Melia. It did not let the memorial, accusing his party on the night of May 26, 2011 at the same place dispersed the action as well as Soviet troops 25 years ago.

Mayoral candidate departed from the crowd at a safe distance, told reporters that “radicals” to meet him, “were drunk.”

25 years ago in Tbilisi at 4:00 am on Rustaveli Avenue in front of the parliament building special forces and the Interior Troops of the Soviet Union broke up numerous rally, using batons and entrenching tool.

In the dispersal of the rally at the site killed 16 people. In the following days, died from his injuries five more. 16 of the dead were women.

Protesters then demanded the restoration of state independence of Georgia and its secession from the Soviet Union. One of the organizers of the rally was who later became president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia
