Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has announced its intention to build on the Black Sea a new city to be called Lasik, reported IA “News-Georgia.” For 10 years Lasik should become the second largest city in the country.
According to the Georgian president, after 10 years in the new city will live at least 500 thousand people. “This city will become a major commercial and economic center of Georgia” - Saakashvili said.

Addressing a meeting of the Georgian population in Zugdidi, Saakashvili said that Lasik will be located between the villages and Anaklia Kulevi. Port construction and reclamation work at the site of the future city will begin in spring 2012.

“This city will allow us to forget about poverty. We have already started negotiations with investors in Asia and Europe”, - Saakashvili said.

In September 2009, it was reported that Georgia is also planning to build near the village of Anaklia large resort, the construction is planned to attract foreign architects. Saakashvili promised that the resort will become the “Sharm el-Sheikh Black Sea coast.”
