Saakashvili declared a national holiday Nowruz Georgia

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili congratulated on Sunday the ethnic Azerbaijanis living in Georgia with Navruz, which is also called the Muslim New Year, and declared it a national holiday in Georgia.

“Congratulations on this great occasion, and I want you to know that with you celebrating all of Georgia, since you are our flesh and blood, you are an essential part of us, and we love you very much” - said Saakashvili, speaking to the gathering in Marneuli (Kvemo Kartli), populated mostly by Azerbaijanis.

“I want today, as well as all other festivals in Georgia, to declare it on behalf of the Government’s national holiday, and every year in Georgia, it will be marked as all other major Georgian holidays”, - said Saakashvili.

However, he said that from now on in Georgia will be created a simplified program for admission to universities for the citizens who complete the national secondary schools.
