Georgian opposition collected signatures for the resignation of Saakashvili

Georgian opposition on Wednesday began collecting signatures to demand the resignation of President Mikhail Saakashvili. Collection of signatures so far takes place only at subway stations and other crowded places in Tbilisi, but in the coming days will begin across the country, transmits “Interfax” referring to one of the leaders of the Joint Opposition Zviad Dzidziguri.
Meanwhile, another part of the Georgian opposition, united in the “Alliance of Georgia, headed by former postpredom of Georgia to UN Irakli Alasania, waiting for tomorrow, which will expire on 10-day ultimatum presented by the alliance Saakashvili. The opposition demanded that the head of state until March 5, appointed a referendum on holding early presidential elections. Otherwise, the representatives of the alliance threatened to resort to drastic measures to protest.
Meanwhile, the Labor Party of Georgia stated that it was inevitable peaceful change of power in the country. Labor put forward a candidate for president of their leader Shalvu Natelashvili, ITAR-TASS. He already ran for president in January 2008.
Sam Mikhail Saakashvili has not responded to claims of opponents. Back in December, he promised that there would be no more running for president, but also prematurely retire from the post does not intend to. The term of office of the president expires in early 2013. The government notes that “there is no political necessity” to conduct early voting: frequent elections are costly, but it is unacceptable in a world economic crisis. ”
